Product Description

The TPS2116 is a power multiplexer with a rated voltage of 1.6V to 5.5V and a maximum rated current of 2.5A. The device uses N-channel MOSFETs to switch between power supplies, while providing a controlled slew rate during the first application of voltage. With a low quiescent current of 1.32μA (typical) and a low standby current of 50nA (typical), the TPS2116 is suitable for systems where one of the inputs is battery-powered. These low currents extend the battery life and runtime. The TPS2116 can be configured for two different switching operations depending on the application. The automatic priority mode prioritizes the power supply connected to VIN1, switching to the secondary power supply (VIN2) when VIN1 drops. The manual mode allows the user to switch via GPIO or enables the signal to switch between channels.
