The product serves as an interface between the CAN protocol controller and the physical bus, primarily used in trucks and buses for applications up to 1 MBd. The device provides differential transmit capability to the bus and differential receive capability to the CAN controller, fully compliant with the "ISO 11898-24 V" standard. The current-limiting circuit protects the transmitter output stage from short circuits to both positive and negative battery voltages. When the junction temperature exceeds approximately 160°C, the current limit of both transmitter outputs is reduced, thereby lowering power dissipation and chip temperature while the other parts of the IC remain operational. This thermal protection is particularly essential during bus line short circuits. The CANH and CANL lines are also protected against electrical transients that may occur in automotive environments. Pin 8 (Rs) allows selection among three different operating modes: high-speed, slope control, and standby.
